After tariff delays, Nintendo will launch Switch 2 preorders on April 24; the retail price will not change.

Nintendo said on Saturday that preorders for the Switch 2 will open in the US on April 24. The pricing of the new gaming system is still $449.99. Nintendo did point out that some accessories would cost more, though.

Nintendo postponed the start of preorders for the eagerly awaited Switch 2 until April 9 in order to evaluate the effects of the strong “reciprocal” tariffs that US President Donald Trump proposed earlier this month.

“We apologise for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our consumers may be experiencing,” Nintendo said in a statement. “We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025.”

However, the price of various Switch 2 accessories has increased from what was initially stated. The Joy-Con, for instance, used to cost $89.99 but is currently only $94.99. Best Buy announced that it would also be taking preorders for the new console and games on April 24 after Nintendo officially announced a new date for Switch 2 preorders.
